Our School Dog - Biscuit
Meet Biscuit, our school dog. He's a Cavapoo, which is a cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a poodle. He is very calm and loves people, especially children. He has supported many children with their emotional regulation, behaviour and mental health through various strategies. Due to him being a poodle mix, his coat doesn’t molt, therefore reducing the chance of allergic reaction.
Biscuit will be based in Mrs Hoebee's office but he will regularly walk around the school building and grounds, interacting with children. He will always be supervised by an adult and kept on a lead when leaving the office and working with children.
Children can benefit educationally and emotionally, increase their understanding of responsibility and develop empathy and nurturing skills through contact with a dog. In addition to these benefits, children (and staff!) take great enjoyment from interaction with a dog.
